Once upon a time… ten years ago… at the end of summer in the middle of August… there was a small party at the Maasplassen in Roermond. A temporary village where thousands of people came together. Still the village comes alive each year. Go on the exploration that is Solar Weekend. The ultimate holiday feeling is created at the Solar beach camping and the party in the Solar Village.
The broad musical line-up features nine areas with house, techno, electro, dubstep, hiphop, jazz, reggae, soul, disco, pop and even classical! But the festival is much more than that...
Through fairytale-like paths you come across a variety of activiteis one can only dream of. From games to party tents and from surprising theater shows to fortune tellers. Or: One big party!
Each year Solar features a theme, this year’s theme is ‘Fairytale’. No seven dwarves or mile boots and red shoes, Solar Weekend 2014 stands for rugged, super creative, special, unique never-before told grown-up fairytales which we are all part of.

Er was eens… tien jaar geleden… aan het eind van de zomer midden in augustus… Een klein feestje aan de Maasplassen in Roermond. Een tijdig dorpje waar duizenden mensen gezellig samen komen. Wat begon als een vooruitstrevend initiatief festival, is uitgegroeid naar een meerdaagse festival met boordevol creativiteit, kleur en love! Het ultieme vakantiegevoel creëer je op de Solar strandcamping en het feestje in het Solardorp.
Via sprookjesachtige paden, kom je onderweg allerlei activiteiten tegen waar je als mens alleen maar van kan dromen. Van spelletjes tot feesttenten en van verrassende theatervoorstellingen tot toekomstvoorspellers. Met andere woorden: Eén groot feest!
Elk jaar heeft Solar een thema, dit jaar is het thema ‘Sprook’. Geen zeven dwergen of mijlslaarzen en rode kapjes, nee, Solar Weekend 2014 staat voor stoere, supercreatieve bijzondere, eigenzinnige, nog-nooit-eerder-vertelde volwassen sprookjes waar we allemaal deel van uitmaken.
