7 is a magic number. 7 days of the week, 7 seas, 7 continents and 7 wonders of the world.
7 years ago I decided to start Floorplay after becoming disenchanted with other nights in the city. I wanted somewhere to dance without all the commercial trappings and disappointing DJs sets. I figured the city of Amsterdam needed a night which focused on quality house sounds. A small room with a tight sound system, where people could get lost in music for a few hours and leave feeling satisfied, that their DJ had worked hard to create a set which took them some place special, that allowed them to feel the power of music.

7 years ago I fell in love with club NL as a venue. It was a club where people could be respected, feel at home, and allowed to be themselves. The staff believed in my vision and supported me back in 2008. They stood by me when booking forward-thinking DJs, name DJs and also up-and-comers, gave me the freedom to play long sets, to experiment musically, to take risks and go into the unknown.
7 years later, I can look back with immense pride on running a night which has seen myself become one of the cities longest ever residents. I can reflect on some immense nights with sets by some of the best DJs in the world, and appearances from others who sometimes just wanted to drop by to check the club out.
7 years of monthly parties requires stamina, vision and endurance. It also demands creativity and a nose for the changing styles and influences and a demographic that slowly changes and makes way for the next generation.
7 years of Floorplay, and we are delighted to welcome you to share this milestone with us on July 25. I will personally perform an extended set, alongside Amsterdam up-and-comer Talitha.
7 years – cheers!
