5 jaar studio 80: legendarische feestweek
29 juni 2010
Wow… time flies when you're having fun.
To celebrate five years of Studio 80, this Wednesday Katapult presents its biggest lineup yet for a truly unmissable edition of midweekmayhem, connecting the dots between wednesdaynight excess and weekends of eighty delights.
No less than three leading figures of the international housescene will be giving us a taste of their musical might, in the persona of Round Table Knights and J. Phlip. Both artists renowned for their great releases, but above all known throughout the lands for their stellar djperformances - which guarantee a party worthy of celebrating the coming of age of the studio.
~Due to circumstances, Justin Martin had to cancel his european tour at the very last moment. A big shame, as we were really looking forward to hosting the unique sound of this gifted dj for the very first time at Studio 80.~

Of course we found a replacement from the dirtybird roster with devillish speed, and one that’s as thrilling as Justin’s appearance was. Coming straight from San Francisco with dirty basslines, bootylicious funk, and cute as hell - J. Phlip is the total package. She’ll be representing the dirtybird scene with flying colours, as one of the defining residents of their infamous San Francisco outdoor parties, besides an up-and-coming dirtybird producer. Recently moved to Berlin, this will be one of her first charges in storming the European scene, and we’re mighty happy to have found such a fresh artist to represent Katapult’s up-front take on dance music. Currently Claude VonStroke's favorite support DJ with amazing high profile gigs likeFabric, Space Ibiza & Back to Basics, we’re just plain exciteeeeed to witness her Amsterdam premiere tomorrow night. Change is inevitable, and at Katapult we embrace it with a booty-shakin’ grin!
Junior heavyweights of the night are Round Table Knights, the Swiss swashbucklers with belts of golden groove. Currently part of Jesse Rose's Made To Play stable, they've been his greatest asset this summer releasing our signature track for the season with 'Calypso'. Just last week this was followed by their equally celebrated 'Cut To The Top EP'. These guys are seriously in-demand DJ's, frequenting the hotspots of Europe crowned by a residency at Panorama Bar. As their set at Softcore in '08, as well as one recently in Berns Stockholm proved, they are a force to be reckoned with behind the decks.
These guests will be introduced with the stylish and exciting versatility you've come to expect from your friendly hosts The Heykids, deftly rubbing their beatpotion on the crowd for their first dancing steps into mayhem.
Studio 2 gathers up two local heroes that probably haven't had the honour to share a booth just yet. Sven & Tettero, the virtuoso duo that recently tore up their overflowing agenda, will be serious competition for the star-spangled main room.
Our favourite resident Bin follows them up with his signature sound, perfected over the past two years with very regular and much loved appearances at Katapult.
Doors open at ten for a whole extra hour of playtime, so as they say: don't miss out, come early!
