Biografie
Hannes Matthiessen (formerly known as DJ Scarecrow) was born in Hamburg September 17th, 1976. Already in young years he discovered his passion for music and bought his first records at the age of 12. In 1995 he purchased his first professional turntables and started spinning records. After several smaller gigs he had his first residency at famous Hamburg-based club "Tunnel" in 1997. He played as a resident DJ on the techno floor for three consecutive years also playing on all main Tunnel events. Together with a friend and DJ colleague "Taurus" he managed the monthly "New Adventure Club" event at Tunnel and organized a fresh and successful party-series at a club in Teterow between 1998 and 2000 with many known guest DJs like Mellow-D or DJ Baphomet.
After graduation he started an internship at "edel records" in August '99, where he worked as DJ promoter. He quickly gained new contacts and played throughout the whole country in many popular clubs and on big open-airs. Among those are the "Poison Club", Düsseldorf, "Fusion", Münster or the "Alte Weberei", Nordhausen. He played on on the main floors of several festivals like "Liberty One" and "Nature One". Furthermore, he was asked to mix two well-selling compilations called "2 Dancefloors" and "Clubbing DJ", for edel records.
With his former studio colleague "Chopstick" he produced several tracks, projects and remixes. Among those were remixes for the hit "Access" for the X-Trax label heros "DJ Misjah & DJ Tim" as well as "Mario Piú", remixes for "State Of Grace" and "A.F.A. (Being Boiled – Voice of Buddha). Their projects "Urban Drive" and "Genuine Groove Feat. Deskee" were examples of smooth break-beats and were signed to Discomania/ Electric Records and Music Mail/ Scrambled Recordings in 2003 and 2004.
In 2005 he signed a deal with Media Records were he released 5 E.P.'s with fresh banging techno sounds, one of which was his crisp remake "Zwielicht" of "2 Unlimited's" evergreen "Twilight Zone" which caused quite a "roaaaar" on the dancefloors to be released on single CD afterwards.
In 2009 he signed a deal with Elektrax Recordings where he released 2 E.P.s "Bundum E.P." under his old pseudonym "DJ Scarecrow" and "Train Raid E.P.", now using his real name "Hannes Matthiessen". Due to changes in his personal life, a massive change of the contemporary techno sound at that time and starting his studies of business psychology, he interrupted his artistic output for a couple of years.
His forthcoming remixes "The Night That Hides Things From Us" – Violent Techno Remix and "The Flame Is Not So Bright To Itself As To Those On Whom It Shines" – Ardent Amber Flame Remix for the remix project "My Friends like Techno" of the chill/ garage album "Vast Massive Vapor" of an artist colleague were released on April 18th.
He's currently working on several new techno and techhouse tracks that will be released in the months to come. Watch out for his rolling, energetic fresh techno soundz!
