Biografie
Panta rheik pantoon hen kai ex henos panta
With a history of over 2000 years old, Nijmegen, the oldest city in The Netherlands, is a place full of culture and a vibrant undergroud scene. With an artist name who's origin also lies in antiquity, it seems fitting that Philosopher is based in this beautiful college town. Nijmegen is small in size, but this isn't reflected by the sheer amount of electronic music nights and venues. From psytrance to drum 'n bass and from house to disco, Nijmegen biggest love by far is techno. Home to the famous Doornroosje club and it's longest still running clubnight of the Netherlands called Planet Rose. Over the years literally every famous techno dj/producer in the scene has made their appearance in this four to the floor-minded city. All the while giving upcoming talent room to explore their sound. A while ago Doornroosje moved to a new building with appartments for students above the club. You don't have to guess where Philosopher has lived with great pleasure for the last five years.
From a young age forward electronic music was a passion of Stef Dekkers. On high school and birthday parties you could find Stef behind the decks playing some obscure housetracks and trying his best to not make it sound like a total trainwreck while mixing. When Stef moved to Nijmegen in 2011 to attend college, his love for techno grew exponentially. He decided to pick up his old hobby and bought a mixer. Stef's love for techno knows no boundaries but as Philosopher he is mixing rindustrial techno, percussive hardgroove, oldskool gems and acid. Philosopher's sound is raw hard-hitting technomadness with a funky twist and just the right amount of pure filth. But most importantly: always very danceable.
