Biografie
Brooklyn natives, Samuel Cartel and Gabriel Cartel are not just brothers, but identical twins who found passion in music in their early teens. The Cartel Brothers learned the art of the Disc Jockey by studying their older brother tear apart hip hop and house vinyl's on his pair of Technic SL-1200 Mk2's. When they were Twelve years old they would wait until he left the house so they could mimic his movements on his turntables and develop their own style.
Their fifteenth birthday proved to be a faithful day as they awoke to a pair of hand-me-down turntables that changed their lives forever. Quickly they grew fond of House music and started picking up records that they felt were inspiring and they could share with their friends. For years they practiced day in and day out to perfect the art of the disk jockey, for the sole purpose of having the capability to work the clubs. It would be just 2 short years before they landed themselves in the position of hosting club events in Brooklyn, NY at the young ages of just 17.
At the ages of 18, the Cartel Brothers put their heads together to begin their ventures as producers and started recording tracks together to prepare for release. Entering into college they prioritized academics and their musical career and, at the age of 22, are entering into their last semester for their degrees in Finance, while taking critical steps to secure their place in Electronic Dance Music history.
Currently they are releasing through outlets such as Beatport.com and Itunes. As well, they are in the process of launching their own record label, Pink Records, which is set to start releasing in the late summer of 2010.
Now playing at some of the hottest venues that New York City has to offer, the Cartel Brothers play Electronic music in the genres of Progressive House, Tech House, and House. With venues such as Pacha NY, Pink Elephant and Club Arena (for the Asseteria party) under their belt, they are currently developing themselves as producers for a more rounded approach to reaching their goals. The Cartel Brothers have just entered the game, but are already having a strong local impact and working to build an international fan base.
If there is one thing that is certain, it is that the Cartel Brothers are here, and they are not leaving until they have left their footprint on the Electronic Dance Music scene.
