The unconventional soprano Cynthia Knoch with the sparkling green eyes is a native of Luxembourg. As a child she was looked after by her mother's parents, whose roots were French. They were born in 1901 and had strong ties to Paris, which explains her early love for French cabaret songs of the 1920s. Her father is of German descent, though, so she soon became fond of German songs popular from "Tonfilme". Both sides of her family went through two world wars, so as a young girl Cynthia Knoch already understood the cabaret songs and music written in the early 20th century. She was aware of the bittersweet moments of an era well known to the forgotten generation, who were children during the Second World War, as her parents were, but far removed from the experience her own generation.

As a young performing artist her talent for singing in various musical styles earned her many admirers. After being educated as a dancer, she studied at the international performing arts studio "Stairs Up", today known as "German Musical Academy", which specializes in singing, dancing and acting. Her passion for classical music continued to grow, however, so she went to study singing in Maastricht (the Netherlands).
After obtaining her bachelor's degree, Cynthia Knoch continued her musical education at "Fonty's Conservatorium, Tilburg", where she completed her studies in July 2011 with the degree "Master of Music". Just one month later she was a finalist in the international Mozart singing competition in Prague. She was honoured to sing for a radio show marking the festival "Ad Honorem Mozart" at the "Estates Theatre", the very stage where Mozart conducted the world premiere of Don Giovanni in 1787 and, two centuries later, scenes from Milos Forman's film Amadeus were shot.

Cynthia Knoch is currently perfecting her vocal technique under the supervision of Tom Krause and Hubert Delamboye. She has attended many master classes, given by such famous teachers as Kurt Moll, Nelly Miricioiu, Roberta Alexander, Umberto Finazzi, Susanna Eken, Marcus Gallante, Barbara Schlick and Pia Douwes.
Cynthia Knoch made her stage debut in 2000 in Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story". Since then she has appeared in many concert shows, musical comedies, operettas, operas and solo recitals. In 2012 she joined André Rieu and his Johann Srauss Orchestra.

She is still fond of savouring the creative artistic atmosphere in theatres that she describes as "churches of performing art". Her artistic spirit and perfectionism, as well as her talent for combining different musical styles and switching between them, makes her a unique artist.
