Biografie
·Born in 1984 in Lisbon, Portugal, DJEFF grew up surrounded by a musically rich environment, blending African rhythms with international pop influences. His mother hails from Angola, and his father from Cape Verde, imbuing his heritage with a diverse cultural foundation. DJEFF's musical journey began in his teenage years, inspired by his sister's record collection, featuring icons like Robin S, Reel 2 Real, Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden, and Erick Morillo. These early influences sparked his passion for house music and set him on the path to becoming a DJ. His career officially started behind the decks at Scala nightclub in Lisbon, where he began honing his unique style. Over the years, DJEFF's performances have captivated audiences worldwide, from Portugal and Angola, where he now resides, to France, the United States, Greece, South Africa, and beyond. Sharing stages with luminaries such as Louie Vega, Osunlade, Boddhi Satva, and Ralf Gum has cemented his place in the global house music scene. In 2011, DJEFF founded Kazukuta Records, a label dedicated to showcasing emerging talent in the Angolan house scene. That same year, he released his debut album, Ascensão do Soldado (Soldier's Ascent), through LS Republicano and Tribe Records. By 2017, he had released his third studio album, Gratitude, which further demonstrated his prowess as a producer and DJ. The following years saw DJEFF reaching new heights. In 2018, his track "Zugu Zugu," featuring Zakes Bantwini and released through Spinnin' Deep, became a breakout hit, gaining airplay on BBC Radio 1 and acclaim from house music enthusiasts worldwide. In 2019, he signed with Diplo's house music label, Higher Ground, and released the celebrated EP Time & Freedom. DJEFF's evolution continued in 2020 with the release of his fourth studio album, Enlightened Path, which showcased his ability to fuse forward-thinking electronic music with Afrocentric roots. This modern Afro House sound, rich with percussion, soulful melodies, and deep grooves, has become his signature style. Throughout his career, DJEFF has graced prestigious stages and venues, including Watergate in Berlin, Rex Club in Paris, Fabric in London, and MEO Sudoeste Festival in Portugal. His infectious enthusiasm on the decks, passion for music, and technical mastery have made him a standout artist in every event he plays. As of 2025, DJEFF continues to push boundaries, inspire new generations, and solidify his position as a leading figure in the Afro House movement. Whether through his genre-defying productions or electrifying performances, DJEFF remains a beacon of innovation and creativity in the electronic music landscape.
